POD Health is committed to providing the best possible care for your child. We believe that effective collaboration and communication between separated parents is essential to a child's wellbeing — encompassing their health, education, social life, and a mutually agreed parenting approach. 

We work closely with both parents/guardians to support your child's welfare and to minimise conflict wherever possible. 

Responsibilities and Commitments 

This page sets out the responsibilities and commitments we consider essential to managing your child's care and respecting the rights of both parents/guardians. To provide the best care for your child, we require both parents/guardians to agree to the following, unless one parent/guardian holds sole decision-making authority (for example, under a Family Court order*): 

1. Consent to assessments and any agreed therapy being carried out at POD Health for the care of my child. 

2. Commitment to being courteous and civil during all consultations. 

3. Agreement that all fees are payable prior to the appointment or confirmation of insurance cover. Any subsequent financial arrangements or insurance/funding rebates are to be negotiated between the parents/guardians directly — our reception and admin staff will not be involved in these arrangements. The parent/guardian who books the appointment is responsible for payment, unless a Family Court order states otherwise. 

4. Understanding that where there is a risk of harm to the child, or a professional obligation to report a concern to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children under the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, we will do so. 

5. For families with shared guardianship, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian arranging the appointment to inform the other parent/guardian of the appointment time and to seek their availability before booking. 

6. Copies of correspondence will be sent to both parents/guardians if both attend the appointment. If only one parent/guardian attends, it is their responsibility to share correspondence with the other parent/guardian. 

7. POD Health may disclose relevant information provided by either parent/guardian within our reports. 

8. Questionnaires and forms must be completed by each parent/guardian (unless one parent/guardian holds sole decision-making authority), to ensure we have a complete picture of your child's behaviour and abilities in each of their homes. 

Our Right to Decline Care 

POD Health reserves the right to decline care, assessment, or any service if the above terms are not honoured, or if either parent's/guardian's behaviour is detrimental to the child's welfare.
